Romania 2025Rebirth reinterprets the Romanian spring fertility ritual Băbăluda, traditionally performed in a village by young men in costumes of bark and branches. The film follows the character of Măriuța, the only female figure in the group, questioning the relevance of myth and ritual in a contemporary world shaped by technological acceleration and environmental collapse. Suspended in a digital void between memory and the present, Măriuța goes beyond her prescribed role. By performing a ritual of purification, inspired by a Romanian spell (descântec), she initiates a new cycle of life, rebalancing the relation between humans and nature.
